Saddle bronc chaps require a leather that takes the resin well (the best for this is French calf). However, it isn't in everyone's budget, and is of a lighter weight. Note this was three-time world-champion Bill Smith's leather of choice. A pair of his chaps made by Leather Legends are now in the Colorado Springs Cowboy Hall of Fame.
